There is a small Shrine and Temple that runs through a small stream, just to the side of the Tonosawa station platform on the Hakone Tozan Line. An intimate atmosphere, which almost goes unnoticed by travelers, but which can have a great impact on our economy.

In this sanctuary you can find 3 Shinto deities that can grant us their graces. The first is Seoritsuhime no Okami, the goddess of water, waterfalls, rivers, and purification. It is believed that it usually takes the form of a white snake, and this happened in 1926, when it appeared in the dreams of a businessman who used to stay frequently at an onsen in Tonosawa. In his dream, he told him to build a sanctuary in his honor where crystalline water gushed from the mountain, and this would bring him much success in his business. And so did this person.

Another deity at the shrine is Benzaiten, the goddess of knowledge, beauty, music, and the arts. His shrine, Fukuzawa Zen-arai Benzaiten, originally stood at the foot of the mountain at Benten Pond, but in 1926 it was moved to its present location on the Hakone Tozan line platform. In the sanctuary there are several ponds with koi fish, where you will find small baskets to put your money in the water of the ponds or under the current of the stream and wash your money. This purification will cause it to multiply in the near future.

There is also the goddess Kannon (goddess of mercy) in this sanctuary, originally it was located in a rocky area near the stream that led to the Hayakawa river, but in 1945 it was moved to its current place in Fukazawa Zen-arai Benzaiten. It is a place where purification, calm, beauty and knowledge meet and fill our life with grace, along with the relaxing sound of running water, the wind, and various seasonal animals and insects.

We must not forget that once the money is laundered, we must use it for the blessing to take effect. Some people say spend it all, others just spend half, but the idea is that you spread the blessing to as many people as possible by moving the purified money into other hands. In other words, wealth does not stay only with you, but rather that you share it.

And if you would like to know a little more about Fukazawa Zen-arai Benzaiten, do not miss our video report that you will find below!

And although it is possible to travel by plane, bus or boat, the train offers the best prices and convenience of all . To have an even better price, we recommend traveling with the Japan Railways universal pass called JR PASS , which can be purchased on their website.
