Every summer in Japan, from August 13 to 16, is the Obon festival, a Buddhist custom to honor our deceased ancestors, in which it is believed that the spirits of our relatives return to the world of the living to visit us. .

The talented artist under the pseudonym 526 ( @Kojiro337 ), recently shared an illustration that not only captures the essence of obon, but brings tears to the eyes of cat lovers.

526 shared an emotional illustration with the accompanying text of “tadaima” (“I’m home” or “I’m back” in Spanish), an expression used in Japan when one returns home after being away for a considerable time.

Anyone who knows the pain of losing a pet can understand the emotion of the moment. A brooding girl on the floor, crying as she holds a toy she used to play with her cat before the cat passed away. Released on August 14, during the time of Obon, however, 526 shows us that the girl is not really alone, that her cat has come back to visit her and wants to snuggle up with her, even though they are worlds apart.

This work received a lot of attention and emotion, where many around the world shared photos of their beloved deceased pets. And although we will never really know what happened to our kitten Hauru, and we sincerely hope that he is in good health and enjoying his life to the fullest, if he ever got ahead of us in the adventure of life, do not forget to come every Obon to visit us. This will always be your home.
