MYAKU-MYAKU : Meet the Intriguing Character of Expo 2025

Expo 2025 Osaka has presented its official character and it is quite peculiar!

It is called MYAKU-MYAKU and it is this mysterious creature born from the fusion of cells and water. Its red part represents cells multiplying, while the blue part is about transforming into clean water and flowing. Talk about a shapeshifting expert! He is on a journey to discover his true self, assuming different forms, sometimes even forgetting his original form. But hey, who hasn’t been there, right?

This creature loves to absorb the energy of the sun and dance in the rain, literally. MYAKU-MYAKU ‘s dream is for everyone to know him even before Expo 2025 begins and he hopes to mingle with a lot of people at the event.

Going deeper into the character’s roots, he was born in a small spring somewhere in Kansai. MYAKU-MYAKU is the work of the creative minds behind mountain mountain, led by the talented Yamashita Kouhei .

MYAKU-MYAKU ‘s special abilities are that he can transform into various forms and has a gift for finding rainbows after a rain.

Even the creative minds behind the character have their stories. Kawakatsu Miyuu saw arteries and veins in the red and blue, and thought that “Myaku (=pulse)” perfectly represents the Expo’s theme of the bond of human civilization.
