Moji More Mochi to make Emochi!
The word emoji is already part of the world vocabulary, originally a Japanese word, 絵文字 (emoji, means something like “image word”), and maintains this same meaning in global mode, an image that replaces a word. These expressive little yellow faces communicate more than words alone can express, and apparently they also have the perfect look for some delicious Mochi rice cakes.
At least that’s what Kokonoe Honpo Tamazawa concluded, a traditional Japanese sweets company that has been in business since 1675. The renowned confectionery, with more than 346 years of history, is combining the famous expressive Japanese symbols with its most popular traditional sweet to make the “Emochi “!
Kokonoe Honpo Tamazawa’s new line of Emochi is part of their Wagashi (Japanese Traditional Sweets) project, an initiative to promote and revitalize interest in Japanese confections, combining modern trends with their innovative sweet-making technique that they have developed over the years. over 300 years of constant improvement. Emochi are Japanese rice cakes that reproduce the faces of classic emojis, which can be mixed up on request and sent to family and friends for special occasions.
The project also links the way we use emoji to communicate our feelings with mochi, which is often used to express gratitude as part of the Japanese gift-giving tradition. The name is a combination of emoji, kimochi (feeling) and obviously mochi! Each Emochi is handcrafted by the skilled artisans of Kokonoe Honpo Tamazawa, featuring 10 variations of rich facial expressions and 3 flavors, white bean, yuzu, and miso.
The Emochi set includes some decals or stickers with emoji and a phrase for the occasion, be it a wedding, birthday, “get well” or simply a “reconciliation”
Emochi is available on request in Japan since June 16, in a set of 3 emochi to taste, in a set of 3 emochi recommended by occasion or the complete collection of 10 emochi.
