Part of the Center of Tokyo, or “old” area, it is currently considered one of the most elegant and commercial districts of the city. Originally built as a silver coin production area during the Edo era (1603-1867), Ginza is an area rich in history, with a strong personality and a well-deserved reputation for extreme elegance. On the main street we can find some of the oldest department stores in Tokyo, which even today, provide a great service that is only rivaled by the high quality products they offer. The alleys of Ginza are a great adventure discovering small but exquisite bistros and boutiques. But Ginza is not resting on its laurels; always evolving, walking with its head held high towards the future, offering culture and modernity, energy and traditional charm in the style of old Tokyo.

How to get to Ginza

Ginza Station can be reached on the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line, Marunouchi Line, and Hibiya Line. Ginza-Itchome Station on the Yurakucho Line and Higashi-Ginza Station on the Hibiya Line will also drop you off. They can be reached on foot in less than 5 minutes from JR Yurakucho Station, and in about 15 minutes from Tokyo Station.

From Haneda Airport: 35 minutes by Limousine Bus or 50 minutes by train.
From Narita Airport: 2 hours by Limousine Bus or 1 hour and 35 minutes by train.
From Shinjuku: 16 minutes on the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line towards Ginza Station.
From Tokyo: 3 minutes on the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line towards Ginza Station.

The best way to travel within Japan is by train, punctual and convenient, although it can be expensive. For an even better price, we recommend traveling with the Japan Railways universal pass called JR PASS , which you can purchase on their website. This pass is purchased before traveling to Japan , arriving at the airport or at any train station , you can pick up your pass with proof of purchase .

Shopping!

The image of Ginza’s traditional department stores received an energizing restoration recently, with the much-anticipated arrival of Ginza Six, a large complex of fashion houses and luxury restaurants geared towards international audiences, as well as the opening of Tokyo Plaza Ginza. Local businesses are also joining in the recent growth, pouring their resources into the Ginza Place shopping complex and the renovated Sony building, a major Ginza icon.

Artistic splendor from luxurious to avant-garde

True to its reputation as a center of sophistication, the Ginza area has developed a vibrant artistic life for centuries. The great theater of the traditional art of Kabuki, called Kabukiza, puts on many performances throughout the year, and its gallery and shop offer us a great opportunity to immerse ourselves more in this great art. The classic Shiseido gallery and the glamorous Maison de Hermes offer frequent art exhibitions, and the Creation Gallery G8 and the Ginza Graphic Gallery focus on the latest in art and design.

Enjoy the Boulevard during the weekend

Ginza’s main street becomes a pedestrian “paradise” during weekends and holidays. You can enjoy the flashy window displays, fancy cafes, and small presentations to your heart’s content. An experience that we highly recommend! Beyond shopping, it is a delight that will make you fall in love!
