Lovely and colorful desserts are a way to celebrate our favorite kawaii characters, and Japan is the perfect place to take advantage of this. For example, Bandai often releases famous Japanese character desserts from brands like Sanrio and Disney.

Bandai Candy has just released some desserts of the Sumikko gurashi characters from San-X. Sumikko Gurashi means “life in the corner”, as these shy characters like quiet and lonely places to live.

This in itself is already a sweet concept, but as these Sumikko Gurashi cupcakes confirm, they can be even sweeter in food! This time two characters are introduced, Shirokuma and Tokage, each with a refreshing taste of summer.

Shirokuma, who is a polar bear, is made from peach and vanilla mousse. And Tokage, a dinosaur that pretends to be a lizard, is made of muscat and vanilla mousse.

Each character is outlined by hand, while Tokage has spikes made of chocolate. Each one costs 453 yen and can be found in limited quantity at 7-Eleven in Kawasaki (Kanagawa) and at Bandai’s online store ( link to Shirokuma and link to Tokage ).
