3-D Shinjuku Cat in Real Life
It was a few days ago, to the delight of internet users, that a large digital cat moved in a space on top of Shinjuku station. Using a flexible LED screen, 4K quality picture and 3-D technology, this big cat wakes up every morning and curiously watches the passers-by around him, occasionally meowing, then curls up for the night.
While I doubt the singular feline in Shinjuku will lose attention in the near future, it may have found its competition on Twitter through an artist from the Gendaibijutstu Nitouhei group, Fujiwara ( @f2touhey ), who decided to recreate the scene in his home along with his Oreo-kun cat!

Using cardboard and printouts of the advertising and businesses that can be seen in the Shinjuku Cross building, Fujiwara recreated the 3-D digital sign that we can see in the busiest train station in the world, although this time the star of the show it’s the cat he adopted named Oreo-kun. Having grown to a healthy 7.5 kg since arriving as a tiny kitten, Oreo-kun seems to be the perfect Shinjuku cat replacement.

For those who are interested in knowing more of Fujiwara’s works, from July 14 to August 15, 2021, it will be part of an exhibition by Gendaibijutstu Nitouhei called ” Kyoto Gorin “, in addition to having a crowdfunding project for some nice snow gloves of cats.
