ONIGIRAZU – Rice Sandwich

Onigirazu ” is basically a rice sandwich. Unlike sushi which requires some special ingredients and a bit of skill and preparation, Onigirazu can be made very easily and you can use ingredients you probably already have at home (except maybe the seaweed).

The cooking time of the rice is not included in the cooking time of the recipe. The ingredients used in this recipe are an option but you can put any ingredients you want!

Preparation: 10 minutes

Cooked: 10 minutes

Overall: 20 minutes

Serving: 2 people

Ingredients

  • two bowls of rice cooked rice
  • two sheets nori seaweed
  • two slices bacon or ham
  • two eggs cooked omelette type and cut to size
  • two sheets of lettuce

Preparation

  1. Cook the rice, bacon and egg and set aside.
  2. Toast the seaweed very lightly (being careful not to burn it) and place it on a sheet of plastic wrap.
  3. Evenly spread half a bowl of cooked rice over the seaweed.
  4. Place the boiled egg on top of the rice.
  5. Then place the cooked bacon on top.
  6. Arrange the lettuce pieces on top.
  7. Place the rest of the rice on top of the other ingredients.
  8. Fold two sides of the seaweed toward the center.
  9. Fold in the remaining two sides to close the sandwich.
  10. Wrap the sandwich with cling wrap.
  11. Leave it for a while for the algae sheets to settle.
  12. Cut the rice sandwich in half and voila! Let’s eat! The cooking time of the rice is not included in the cooking time of this recipe.

If you don’t have the form, just pile the ingredients and fillings together and fold them with nori sheets.
