Park Ghibli prepares for its opening on November 1 in Aichi

The final countdown begins now for all fans of Studio Ghibli Inc. as they will soon be able to visit the theme park centered on the studio’s highly successful anime films. Park Ghibli is scheduled to open on November 1, 2022.

Visitors will be able to experience the scenes depicted in the different Studio Ghibli films such as “Castle in the Sky” or “My Neighbor Totoro”.

In a media preview, parts of Park Ghibli were shown for the first time.

The supervisor of the park in all its creation, Goro Miyazaki, is very excited for the day to come and hopes “that many people enjoy the park”

Ghibli Park will open within the Expo 2005 Aichi Memorial Park , which has an area of 157 hectares and is managed by the prefectural government. This memorial park was built on the site of the 2005 World’s Fair.

Park Ghibli is in an area of about 7.1 hectares and will be divided into five areas , three of which will open on November 1 . The three areas contain sites totaling about 3.4 hectares.

One of the three areas is called ” Ghibli’s Great Warehouse ” where visitors are greeted by the ruined garden featured in the movie “Castles in the Sky”.

Also access the restaurant area, you must walk through the streets as they appear at the beginning of the movie ” Spirited Away ” You will find a house of tiny people like in the ” Arrietty ” movie and you will be able to see the ” Quartier Latin “, the High school clubhouse featured in the movie “On Poppy Hill”

In one of these areas, you will be able to see the house where Satsuki and Mei come to live in “My Neighbor Totoro” as well as the area called “Mononoke Village”, with the theme of the movie “Princess Mononoke”. This area will open in the fall of 2023 .

You can also find the “Kiki’s Valley” area with the theme of “Kiki: Delivery” and much more. The inauguration for this last area is scheduled for March 2024 .

You’ll also be able to watch short Ghibli films and see exhibits related to the studio.

There will be entrance fees for each area. Weekday entrance fees for adults with access to the three areas opening on November 1 will be 4,000 yen ($27USD)

The admission fee for the “Ghibli Department Store” area will be priced differently on weekends and national holidays . Children under 3 years old can enter for free.

There will be a daily limit on the number of participants in each area so that visitors can fully enjoy the Ghibli experience, so you must reserve your tickets in advance, and the date of entry will be assigned to you.

The operating cost of the park, according to Aichi Prefectural officials, who were responsible for promoting Ghibli Park, is around 34 billion yen. ($226,236,000)
